Additional Project Details
Strand Theatre, Skowhegan, ME
I designed the concrete foundation and exterior wall system using with insulated concrete forms using ASCE 7 and ACI 318. I also designed the second floor and roof systems using steel and concrete using AISC 8th Edition Manual. The building was a two story theatre addition of about 15,000sf. My design included gravity and lateral wind and seismic loads. Some of the calculations were performed using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software. I received assistance for the lateral design.
Magic Lantern theatre, Bridgeton, ME
I designed the concrete foundation and exterior wall system using with insulated concrete forms using ASCE 7 and ACI 318. I also designed the second floor and roof systems using steel and concrete using AISC 8th Edition Manual. The building was a two story theatre of 15,000sf. My design included gravity loads. Some of the calculations were performed using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software. I received assistance for the lateral design.
Seadogs Clubhouse, Portland, ME
I designed the foundation and the wood framed clubhouse structure to fit underneath the existing left field stands. I also designed the concrete foundation and concrete and steel structure for their new elevated bullpen. It totaled about 7,900sf. I used ASCE 7 for loads, ACI 318 for concrete design, AISC 8th Manual, and AWC WFCM. Some of the calculations were performed using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software. Loads (gravity, wind, and seismic) were based upon ASCE 7.
Toddle Inn, Scarborough, ME
I designed the concrete foundation and exterior wall system using with insulated concrete forms using ASCE 7 and ACI 318. The building was a one story addition of 10,500sf. My design included loads due to gravity, wind and seismic forces. Some of the calculations were performed using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software.
Uncle Mike’s Cafe renovation, Lisbon, ME
I designed the foundation and structural steel and wood frame for a 4,300sf restaurant. It was located under an existing residence which was kept in it’s current location and state. The design included both vertical gravity loads as well as horizontal wind and seismic. Some of the calculations were performed using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software.
JF Murphy Homes, Lewiston, ME
1 acre, site design using HydroCAD for pre and post development runoff. Also on that site I designed the structure for a 2,000sf wood framed assisted living residence. Foundation design for the same. 3 acre, site design using HydorCAD for pre and post development runoff. Also the structure design for a 4,500sf wood framed assisted living residence. Foundation design for the same.
Biddette residence, Auburn, ME
2,800sf residence. I designed the structure with hand calculations based upon ASCE 7 loads using WFCM and proprietary values from the lumber manufacturer. I designed the foundation with hand calculations using ACI 318. Some calculations were performed using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software.
Aubuchon Hardware addition, Lewiston, ME
3,900sf Addition ,I designed the concrete walled structure for gravity and lateral loads based the loads on ASCE 7 using ACI 318 and Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software. The walls acted as retaining walls for 25% to 75% of their height. The roof utilized wood trusses.
United Ambulance, Lewiston, ME
New parking lot – 4 acre site design; I calculated the pre and post development runoff using HydroCAD stormwater software and designed the new employee parking. I also prepared the permitting requirements.
New site entrance – 4 acre site design
I calculated the pre and post development runoff using HydroCAD stormwater software and designed the new entrance road while revising the existing ambulance entrance and exit. New 1,700sf three bay ambulance garage; I designed the structure for a wood framed, three bay garage based upon ASCE 7 using WFCM and proprietary values from the lumber manufacturer. I calculated the pre and post development runoff using HydroCAD stormwater software New 4,900sf training building; I designed the structure for a wood framed, two story training building based upon ASCE 7 using WFCM and proprietary values from the lumber manufacturer. I calculated the pre and post development runoff using HydroCAD stormwater software
Waterville Public Library addition, Waterville, ME
3,135sf addition to the Waterville Library. It is an insulated concrete form structure using steel beams and slabs on deck. I based the loads on ASCE 7 and designed the structure for gravity and lateral loads using ACI 318 and proprietary values from the hardware manufacturer as well as Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software.
Building Solutions footbridge, Oxford, ME
Refurbish of an existing 60’ span snowmobile bridge into a covered footbridge. The bridge owner wanted to use salvaged steel beams for the project. I could find no section information for the beams so I calculated the properties using field measurements. I researched the material and estimated the material properties using input form the Maine Department of Transportation information and AISC information. I then checked the capacities using hand calculations and AISC Eighth edition. I designed the footings using ACI 318 and Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software. I designed the wood deck using WFCM. All loads used ASCE 7.
Pro Knee new building inWhitefield, ME
New 15,500sf warehouse on 113 acres. My first assignment was the structural design which I based upon ASCE 7 using WFCM and proprietary values from the lumber manufacturer. Some of the beams and columns were steel which I designed using AISC Eighth edition. I included both gravity and lateral design from wind and seismic influences. I designed the foundation based upon ACI 318 and proprietary values from the block manufacturer. I used Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software for some portions. My second assignment was the site design. I calculated pre and post development runoff using HydroCAD software.
Lamour residence addition in Portland, ME
New 1,600sf wood framed garage addition to existing wood framed apartment building. I first calculated stormwater runoff for the ½ acre site using HydroCAD software. I then prepared a site plan for submission to the City of Portland. I also designed the structure based upon ASCE 7, WFCM, and ACI 318 using hand calculations and Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software. Lastly, I provided architectural drawings for the structure.
Damon Mechanical building in Auburn, ME
Relocated 4800sf pre-engineered metal building. I first reviewed the existing structure. To do this I field measured the columns and beams and calculated the properties of the section. I also measured the sub-framing pieces and estimated their properties using proprietary tables of similar pieces. I then analyzed the loads based upon ASCE7. I calculated the stresses using ASD and AISC Manual, 8th edition. Finally I designed the partially buried foundation based upon ACI 318 using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software.
Bedard Medical Building in Auburn, ME
New 29,000sf pre-engineered steel frame pharmaceutical building. I designed the foundation based upon the loads provided by the building manufacturer. The foundation design included gravity, wind, and seismic loads using LFRD basis. Calculations were based upon ACI 318 using Enercalc Structural Engineering Library software.
Future Foods renovation in Mechanic Falls, ME
Renovation of existing 13,000sf wood framed building consisting of three distinct interconnected sections. I first reviewed the existing structures and recommended remedial action where the construction was substandard, most specifically the rear foundation wall. My recommendations were based upon loads calculated from ASCE 7. I then analyzed the connection area and designed the connection pieces working within the physical restrictions of the existing structure. My design included review of the existing load bearing walls for both gravity and horizontal loads, installation of new footings, foundations, columns, beams, and roof joists for the connection area. The design was ASD based using AWC WFCM, and ACI 318 as well as some proprietary engineered lumber data.
